Riverside Fish House

Bristlenose plecos (AKA Ancistrus) grow to a maximum of 6 inches.

Temperament: They are peaceful and generally don’t interact with their tank mates. For that reason it’s best to put them with similarly peaceful fish. Males can be aggressive to each other if there are not enough females around, so it’s preferable to keep them same sex, or keep the ratio of males to females low.

Tank Size: Minimum of 60L

Temperature: 22-28c

Make sure they have caves and hideouts, these fish want somewhere to hide where they feel enclosed. Also ensure they have real wood in their tank as this aids with digestion and keeps your fish healthy

Food: They are omnivorous. Anything that sinks to prevent competition with other fish. Repashy, Courgette, Pleco wafers

Fun Fact: Plecos love cucumbers, but they’re not very good for them. Think of it like chocolate, a fantastic treat that’s almost guaranteed to bring them out of hiding, but has no nutritional value.
